Abstract

Considering the oil-richness of some countries, the export of petrochemical products is of great importance in such countries as Iran. The export of petrochemical products, especially oil and gas, will lead to destructive effects on the environment. Considering the role and importance of the environment in the lives of people in the society, the present study aims to examine the relationship between petrochemical products and environmental pollution and investigates the impact of petrochemical products on environmental pollution. In this research, the effects of for-export products such as paraffin, sulfur, hydrocarbons, alcohols and bitumen on the environment using the modified least squares model during the time period of 1992-2018 have been investigated and a model has been estimated. The research results show a positive and significant relationship between the export of petrochemical products and environmental pollution, and since the increase in the export of petrochemical products increases its production, therefore, the increase in the export of petrochemical products results in the increased environmental pollution. In general, it can be said concluded because the growth of production and exports requires more energy and resources, the increase in environmental pollution will be accelerated
